Bulldog Women's Track & Field Team Climbs to No. 16 in USTFCCCA Division III Rankings

It was announced earlier today that the University of Redlands women's track & field team moved up two spots in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Outdoor rankings, with this week's list placing the Bulldogs at No. 16.

This poll is determined by a mathematical formula that calculates points from the NCAA Division III Descending Order Lists from the current campaign.  Based on this methodology, the Bulldogs amassed 59.09 points to rank 16th in all of NCAA Division III.

Highlighting the team's recent results, junior Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) impressed at the recent Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Multi-Dual No. 3 by posting a career-best height of 5' 7" in the High Jump.  This places her third on the NCAA Division III list for 2017.

In addition, freshman Gabi Gould (Bellingham, WA) cleared a height of 12'0" in the Pole Vault to now rank 21st in the nation.  Junior Mandy Widen (Vail, AZ) closely follows at 11' 7 ¾" to sit 28th.

Furthermore, the 4x100 Relay of freshman Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA), senior Jasmine Ramos (Santa Fe Springs, CA), sophomore Kara Romani (Sacramento, CA), and senior Alison Smith (McKinleyville, CA) holds steady at fourth in the country with a time of 47.38.

Smith adds to the team's firepower with her eclectic contributions that range from the fastest Division III time in the 100 Hurdles (14.12) to the best mark in the Heptathlon at 4,799 points.

Redlands looks forward to celebrating Commencement this weekend before competing in the SCIAC Championships on Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29, at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
