  • Seven Redlands Softball Players selected as NFCA/Easton All-American Scholar-Athletes

    It was officially announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) that seven University of Redlands softball players earned NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete honors, as determined by their cumulative GPAs during the 2022-23 academic year. In order to qualify, individuals must earn a 3.5 or higher as a member of a softball program.

    The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2023 Academic All-District Team for Softball this week with the University of Redlands having four players recognized for the first time in their careers, graduate student Natalie Horton (Palmdale, CA), senior Alexis Campos (Lake Forest, CA), and sophomores Isabella Culp (Hanford, CA) and Paige Messenlehner (Easton, CA).

    MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The University of Redlands softball team (27-17) saw their season come to an end following loses of 14-0 and 7-0 at No. 4 Linfield University Friday afternoon at the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) McMinnville Regional. The Bulldogs managed only four hits across the two games as they drop the series 0-3.

    REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands softball team went 3-1 at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament last weekend and earned the conference's automatic bid into the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Championships. The selection committee on Monday announced they would travel to Oregon to face No. 4 Linfield University in a two-team regional where the two programs would play a best-of-five series starting this Thursday, May 18 at 4:00 p.m. Games two and three are Friday and if necessary games four and five would be Saturday.

    REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands softball team finished in a three-way tie for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) regular season title with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) and Chapman University (CU) at 14-7. Following the tiebreakers, the Bulldogs finished as the No. 3 seed with CMS receiving the No. 1 seed and serving as the tournament hosts, and CU slotting in as the No. 2 seed. Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) is the No. 4 seed. They open the tournament with No. 2 Chapman at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 12.

    LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the 2023 Softball All-SCIAC awards and five Bulldogs made the first and second teams with Katlyn Gandara (Whittier, Calif.) being named SCIAC Pitcher of the Year (POY). Gandara was the lone first team member with Alexis Campos (Lake Forest, Calif.) making the second team at first base, Isabella Culp (Hanford, Calif.) at catcher, Katlyn Kershner (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) as the utility having played outfield and infield, and Natalie Horton (Palmdale, Calif.) at shortstop.
  • Bulldog Softball finishes in a three-way tie for the SCIAC regular season title after split with Occidental

    REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands softball team (24-13, 14-7) came into senior day needing to sweep Occidental College and Chapman University to get swept at the University of La Verne to win the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) regular season title, and they got the sweep they needed and won game one 8-0. But a 4-1 loss in game two and a doubleheader sweep of Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) ended the standing with Redlands, Chapman, and CMS at 14-7 in SCIAC play. The tiebreaker between the three teams went to CMS who was 4-2 in head-to-head meetings. Redlands went 2-1 against the Athenas, but went 1-2 against Chapman, giving them a 3-3 record. Chapman was 2-4 in their head-to-head meeting, so, CMS will be the No. 1 seed and host the SCIAC Postseason Tournament next weekend thanks to their key sweep of Chapman. In the tiebreaker for the No. 2 seed Chapman won that due to the head-to-head advantage with the Bulldogs. Redlands will be the No. 3 seed and P-P is the No. 4 seed.
