Senior Alison Smith Wins Heat to Qualify for Final of 60 Hurdles at NCAA Indoor Championships

Senior Alison Smith (McKinleyville, CA) advanced to the final of the 60 Hurdles at the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships by completing Friday's preliminary race in a blistering 8.71 seconds.

Today's time ranks as a lifetime best for the first-time competitor at the indoor nationals.  While competing in the third heat, she proved to be the fastest of the group.

She entered the championships with the sixth-fastest mark for the season.

Smith looks forward to tomorrow's race, which will begin at 11:35 a.m. Pacific time and takes place in Naperville, IL.  Fans may follow tomorrow's action through the NCAA website.
