The University of Redlands track & field teams took the road trip to Northern Arizona University for the NAU Tune-Up Meet. While competing in their second indoor meet of the year, the Bulldogs registered solid results across the board in Friday's outing.

Senior Alison Smith (McKinleyville, CA) and freshman Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) lined up for the 60-meter Hurdles and blew past the competition, which included some NCAA Division I sprinters. Smith sped through the hurdles and clocked a speedy time of 8.87 seconds for third place overall. With this impressive mark, Smith now sit tied-for-second in all of NCAA Division III for the indoor season.

Fields closely followed for fifth place with a time of 9.05, which lands her among the season's top 20.

Junior Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) took on the High Jump and cleared the bar at 5' 5" for third place. This also includes her among the best in the nation by placing her in a tie for 20th.

Rounding out the women finishers, sophomore Kara Romani (Sacramento, CA) registered an awesome leap of 18' 2 1/4" in the Long Jump to take seventh place. Among the indoor marks for the country, she currently is tied for 18th.

For the men, freshmen Cooper Adamo (Bakersfield, CA) and Mykel Campos (Dinuba, CA) also competed in the Long Jump during their second indoor meet for the Maroon and Gray. Adamo came in seventh with a distance of 22' 1 ½", while Campos uncorked a jump of 21'9 ½" for ninth place.

The Bulldogs' meet at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday, February 18, has been cancelled due to poor weather conditions. Redlands looks forward to competing at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Meet No. 1 on Saturday, March 4, by taking on host Pomona-Pitzer, Chapman University, and Whittier College.
