Redlands Men's Basketball Excels in the Classroom with Team and Individual Honors from NABC

It was recently announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that the University of Redlands men's basketball program received the 2014-15 Team Academic Excellence Award for the Bulldogs' diligence in the classroom. In addition, senior guard Marco Kengott (San Diego, CA) was recognized as a member of the 2014-15 NABC Honors Court for his scholarly success.

As one of more than 150 colleges and universities to receive this honor, the Bulldogs met the criteria for the Team Academic Award by earning a combined GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2014-15 campaign.

Redlands is joined by fellow Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) members Caltech and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges as recipients of this team award.

While exceeding the various criteria for the NABC Honors Court, Kengott completed his degree in Business and Communication in April. On the hardwood, he started all 24 games in which he played while averaging 16.8 minutes per contest. The 6-1 senior boasted a 7.3 scoring average while dishing out 47 assists at the point guard position. In addition, he pocketed 11 steals and grabbed 49 total rebounds on the year.

In order to be named to the NABC Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically on a varsity squad, hold a 3.2 GPA or higher at the conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year, have played at least one season at the current institution, and attend an NCAA Division I, II, or III, or NAIA institution with a NABC member coach.
