Bulldog Cross Country Finishes 4th at SCIAC Championships | Verschoor and Bullock named All-SCIAC

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Cross Country teams picked up a pair of fourth place finishes at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships Saturday. 

In the SCIAC Preseason Polls the Bulldog Men's Team was slated to finish fifth and came away in fourth missing out on third by three points.

Men

The Maroon and Grey were led by a sixth-place finish and All-SCIAC performance from Enrique Verschoor (Mar del Plata, Argentina) who ran a 25:08.0. He had a mile time average of 5:03.5 as he finished only 0.3 seconds behind fifth place. Overall, the Bulldogs' team average was a 26:11.

Other top finishers were Ronan Byrne (Portola Valley, CA)Nolan Brown (La Crescenta, CA), and Rogelio Salcido (Beaumont, CA) who came in 23rd, 29th, and 31st respectively. Their final times were 26:05.0, 26:22.1, and 26:24.5.

Women

The Bulldogs fourth place finish came after they combined for a 23:40. The top finisher was Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) who became an All-SCIAC performer for the second straight year after coming in 10th overall running a 22:28.1 with a 6:01.5 mile average. This was her first race in four weeks and she posted a :48.9 second improvement from the Waves Invitational back on October 1.

 

Four other Bulldogs finished inside the Top-40, including Eve Mavy (Thayne, WY)Sheriane Greene (Grass Valley, CA)Abigail Johnson (Westborough, MA), and Cece Matteson (Seattle, WA).

The group of four took 33rd, 35th, 37th, and 38th, respectively. All of them finished within :15.3 seconds of each other.  Their times were 23:50.8, 23:55.4, 24:04.0, and 24:06.1.    

The next stop for the Bulldogs are the NCAA Division III West Regionals on Saturday, November 12 at 10:00am.  The Regionals are hosted by Whitworth University in Spokane, WA.
