Redlands Cross-Country slated to finish 4th/5th in SCIAC Preseason Polls

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Cross-Country Preseason Polls were announced this past week, which were voted upon by the league's member head coaches.

The University of Redlands have both teams slated to finish inside the Top 5 led by the women who are picked to finish 4th after collecting 50 points, one point above Occidental College (49) and another seven over Chapman University (43).

On the men's side they are in the 5th slot with 46 points, trailing Occidental College (52) by six points, but ahead of Caltech (36) by double digits.

With the losses of both Isabella Glenn and Tucker Cargile the Bulldogs look to a plethora of young talent here in 2022.  Sophomore Chloe Bullock, a 2nd Team All-SCIAC performer returns on the women's side, holding the 5th fastest 5K time (18:28.1) and the 7th fastest 6K time (22:19.3) in school history, both coming last season.  She finished 19th at the SCIAC Championships and 28th at the NCAA Division III West Regional.  Joining her will be veterans Sheriane Greene and Cece Matteson along with first years Ella Billeter, Julie Chipres, Eve Mavy, Miranda Muller, and Katelyn Swanson.

For the men, Rogelio Salcido will be one of the runners to watch who ran the 18th fastest time in school history last season at the Highlander Invitational (25:58).  Keep your eyes out for Brandon Farnsworth and Nolan Brown as well who both qualified for the NCAA Division III West Regional with Farnsworth taking 85th and Brown 47th.  Other veteran leadership includes Enrique Verschoor, Riley Lathrop, and Easton Means, while the addition of first years David Huggins and Daniel Quintana will help the Bulldogs make a push towards the top.

The 2022 SCIAC cross-country season is set to begin the weekend of September 1-3 with all nine programs in action.
