Redlands Cross Country Teams Take Fifth at Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

The University of Redlands cross country teams took on quality competition at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday morning, with each team taking fifth in the overall standings.  The men put together a combined time 2:15:30.8 on the 8k-course, while the women clocked in at 1:59:00.4 over the 6k-race. 

Senior Abhinav Nagpal (Cypress, CA) paced the Bulldog men with his 11th-place time of 26:08.9.  Sophomore Benjamin Casey (Highland Park, IL) recorded a career-best time of 26:31.0 for 19th among the scorers. 

A trio of juniors rounded out the Bulldogs' top five, as Sean Unger (Carlsbad, CA), John Nichols (Arroyo Grande, CA), and David Galindo (East Los Angeles, CA) followed next for the Maroon and Gray.  Unger logged a time of 27:03.1 to take 32nd overall, while Nichols and Galindo each finished less than a minute later with respective times of 27:50.9 and 27:56.8 to land among the top-50 scorers.  This marked just the second sub-28-minute times of Nichols' and Galindo's individual careers at Redlands.

The team's average time was 27:06.1.

For the women, senior Jessika Snincsak (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) led Redlands' runners with her time of 22:52.9 for 14th place overall.  Freshman Maria Ramirez (Orange, CA) quickly followed with a career-best time of 22:59.1 for 16th, while junior Kaylee Jorgensen (Claremont, CA) completed the course in 23:18.3 to finish among the top-20 scorers.  Freshman Carly Veasy (Camas, WA) and sophomore Ellie Ramsey (Waterbury, VT) clocked respective times of 24:53.5 and 24:56.5 to round out the Bulldogs' top five.

The average time for the women was 23:48.1.

Redlands looks forward to competing at the SCIAC Championships on Saturday, October 29, at Prado Park.  The race begins at 9 a.m.
