Della Lyle Collects All-SCIAC Nod as Bulldog Cross Country Competes at SCIAC Championships

The University of Redlands cross country program capped off the regular season with Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship meet at Prado Park in Chino, with the men taking sixth and the women coming in seventh on the difficult course.  Sophomore Della Lyle (Buffalo, WY) notched the Bulldogs' only All-SCIAC award with her 11th-place time of 24:04.87 for Second-Team honors, giving her back-to-back accolades in her first two seasons.

In addition to Lyle, the Maroon and Gray gained a solid performance from junior Vanessa Anchondo (Oceanside, CA), who returned to action after a few weeks off by taking 41st in 25:39.13.  Senior Madison Smith (Redlands, CA) quickly followed less than 20 seconds later as the Bulldogs' third finisher.

Freshman Lauren Roberts (Portland, OR) ran her inaugural SCIAC Championships in 26:27.06 and junior Ellie Aguilera (Lemoore, CA) rounded out the Bulldogs' top five with her mark of 28:01.68.

Sophomore Brittney Brandt (Santa Maria, CA) and senior Courtney Mera (Redlands, CA) both recorded sub-29-minute efforts, finishing the 6K-race in 28:42.13 and 28:51.99, respectively.

For the men, a trio of freshman joined forces with two veterans to put together a sixth-place tally.

Newcomer Jarron Helbock (San Diego, CA) led the charge with his 8K-time of 28:06.22 for 43rd overall.

Senior Tom Marshall (Hillsboro, OR) crossed the finish line in 28:26.49, which was a great improvement over his previous showing at this meet in 2010.

Freshman Jonathon DeGroot (San Leandro, CA) and sophomore Chris Bolt (Reno, NV) served as the team's third and fourth runners, completing the race nearly together at 28:33.61 and 28:35.94.

Despite the tougher terrain compared to the SCIAC Multi-Dual meet, freshman Ian Lee (Las Vegas, NV) posted an improved time of 29:08.28, shaving nine seconds off of his mark from two weeks ago.

Redlands looks forward to competing in the NCAA West Regional Championships on Nov. 10 in Salem, OR, at 10 a.m.
