Redlands Cross Country Gains Two All-SCIAC Performers at SCIAC Championships

The University of Redlands cross country programs wrapped up the regular season at Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships at Prado Park. The Bulldog women gained a pair of All-SCIAC performances en route to capturing fifth place, while the men finished one point shy of taking seventh in the standings.

For the women, senior Emily Canales (Redlands, CA) and freshman Della Lyle (Buffalo, WY) highlighted the day by taking third and fourth, respectively. By completing the 6K-course among the top 10 at the race, Canales notched her second All-SCIAC First-Team honor with her of 23:38.54. Lyle quickly followed with her inaugural All-Conference award of her young career, clocking in at 23:47.27 as Redlands' second runner.

Sophomore Courtney Mera (Redlands, CA) posted the team's third-fastest time of the day at 25:47.49. Sophomore Vanessa Anchondo (Oceanside, CA) and junior Melissa Pilato (Cypress, CA) both posted times in the 27-minute range, while freshman Brittney Brandt (Santa Maria, CA) fared well in her first championship meet with a time of 28:17.45.

The men relied on senior Duncan Ashby (Goleta, CA) to serve as their top finisher with a time of 27:36.47. In addition, sophomore Derik Harrison (Centennial, CO) posted the only other sub-30 minute time, completing the 8K-course in 29:57.04.

Freshman Chris Bolt (Reno, NV) quickly followed as the team's third-fastest runner, coming in at 30:00.30 in his inaugural conference championship experience.

Rounding out the team's top-five competitors, freshman Kieran Noble-Goodman (Redlands, CA) crossed the finish line in 30:37.18, while freshman Brady McFaul (Sierra Madre, CA) recorded a time of 31:12.12.

Redlands heads to Claremont for the NCAA West Regional Championships on November 12.
