Redlands Cross Country Garners Six All-Conference Honors at SCIAC Championship Meet

Despite the chilly and damp conditions, the University of Redlands cross country teams competed at the 2010 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships earlier today at Prado Park in Chino. The Bulldog women posted a solid second-place finish, while the men came in seventh.

Combining today's results with that of the SCIAC Multi-Dual meet, the Redlands women finish tied for second and the men end up tied for fifth in the conference standings.

During the SCIAC Championship race, the women boasted four harriers among the top 20 with junior Emily Canales (Redlands, CA) leading the way with her fifth-place time of 23:57.39. Senior Katie Ostrinski (Riverside, CA) quickly followed at 23:57.79 for sixth place, while senior Kelsey O'Callaghan (Salt Lake City, UT) capped off her first SCIAC season of cross country with an eighth-place performance of 23:58.22. These individuals garnered First-Team All-SCIAC honors for completing the race as one of the first 10 runners.

In addition, senior Heather Mayer (Spring Valley, CA) rounded out the top-20 finishers and the All-SCIAC Second-Team recipients with her time of 24:25.00 for 20th-place overall.

Sophomore Madison Smith (Redlands, CA) crossed the finish line in 25:23.04 as the final scorer for the Bulldogs.

On the men's side, senior Jeremy Kalmus (New Orleans, LA) paced the Bulldogs with his 16th-place performance of 27:18.65. Junior Duncan Ashby (Goleta, CA) supplied one of his best showings of the season with a time of 27:23.94 for 18th place. These harriers represented Redlands on the All-SCIAC Second Team.

In addition, senior Alec Fillmore (Riverside, CA) crossed the finish line in 28:05.72 for 33rd place, while freshman Derik Harrison (Centennial, CO) uncorked his top time of the season at 28:29.66 for 49th overall. Freshman Israel Orosco (Azusa, CA) rounded out the Bulldog scorers with his time of 29:25.53.
