
2023 Women's Water Polo All-SCIAC Teams
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the 2023 Women's Water Polo All-SCIAC awards and receiving first and second team honors for the University of Redlands was goalkeeper Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA) and utility player Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA). Zielinski was also named the first SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year (DATY) in program history.
This is the first All-SCIAC honor Zielinski has received during her career. She finished her senior season with a goal, three assists, 33 steals, 256 saves, a .525 save percentage, and allowed only 9.62 goals per game.
The 256 saves are the eighth most in single-season program history, second most overall among SCIAC keepers, and seventh most across all divisions in the country. Her save percentage is also second among SCIAC goalkeepers, she averaged 10.7 saves per game, the most in SCIAC and fourth most in the country.
In SCIAC play she had 21 steals, the fifth most among all players, the most saves with 136, the best save percentage at .624 and second in goals against average (GAA) among players with double digit games played, at 6.83.
As a senior Zielinski ends her career with the fourth most career saves with 552 and the seventh most steals as a goalkeeper with 60. This year she was also named the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week four times.
The other All-SCIAC selection was Parker who as a sophomore also earned her first all-conference selection as she made the 2nd Team. She ended her second season with the Maroon and Grey with a career-high 46 goals, 51 points, and 20 drawn exclusions. She was efficient too, scoring at a .430 rate, an improvement on 0.76 from her first-year season.
Parker's 46 goals are tied for the eighth most among SCIAC players. In SCIAC competition she scored 30 times, which was the second most, and had 33 points, eighth most.
The Bulldogs missed the SCIAC Tournament by a game after going 6-6. The six wins in SCIAC were the most since 2019.
