SCIAC Women's Water Polo Weekly Release No. 11

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Women's Water Polo Athletes of the Week in the eleventh week of voting and University of Redlands goalie Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA) was selected as the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season. 

Tori led the University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team to a 2-0 week with wins over Whittier College (7-5) and Occidental College (9-3) with the win over the Poets being the first for the Maroon and Grey since 2013 and their first SCIAC win against them since 2012.  The Bulldogs held both teams to single digits thanks to Zielinski who combined for 18 saves, three steals and a .686 save percentage across the two games.

Against Whittier she posted 12 stops with two steals and a .706 save percentage and then came back to limit the Tigers on Saturday with another six saves, a steal and a .667 save percentage.  The Bulldogs are now 4-3 in SCIAC and currently sit fourth within the conference standings.

Redlands remains in conference play as they host Chapman University this Wednesday, April 5 beginning at 7:00pm.  The Bulldogs have won two in a row and four of their last five.
