Holly Kvanvig and Ally Feeley Recognized on Senior Night | Women's Water Polo Cruises Past Caltech

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team sent off their two seniors Holly Kvanvig (Beaverton, OR) and Alexandria Feeley (Menlo Park, CA) in impressive fashion Saturday night inside the Thompson Aquatic Center cruising past Caltech 10-2.

Redlands has now won two in a row and improve to 7-12, 4-8 SCIAC.  They have also now held their fourth opponent out of their last five to single digits.       

The Maroon and Grey were in total control from start to finish putting up two goals in each of the first three quarters before finishing things off with a four-goal effort across the final eight minutes.  Kvanvig got the scoring started three minutes into the game getting fed by Breanna Bailey (Rancho Cucamonga, CA). Forty-nine seconds later Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA) found the back of the net thanks to a Courtney Sawin (Tacoma, WA) feed and that put UR on top 2-1. 

Parker added her second tally of the game 1:05 into the 2nd Quarter with Katrina Nielsen (Houston, TX) feeding her inside set. After a back and forth sequence Redlands put up their fourth goal on the scoreboard with 3:37 left in the half this time thanks to Sawin who was fed by Bailey. This advantage would hold into the break as Redlands would keep Caltech scoreless over the final 10:12.

The Bulldogs continued to add to their lead in the 3rd Quarter with another two goals, this time with Feeley connecting off an assist from first-year Rachel Lamb (Norco, CA). Then with under a minute to play in the period Parker found Sydney Sereg (Fullerton, CA) out on the wing who fired off a long-range goal extending the lead to 6-1.

Caltech earned their second goal on the night to start the 4th Quarter after being held scoreless over the previous 20:28. But less than a minute later Redlands got the goal right back with Kvanvig answering for the second time on the evening, sparking a 4-0 run, which included goals from Feeley, Nielsen, and Hannah Long (Rancho Cucamonga, CA)

Redlands on the evening received goals from seven different players with nine contributing to a goal.  Nielsen (one goal, one assist), Bailey (two assists), Kvanvig (two goals, one assist), Long (one goal, one assist), Feeley (two goals), Sawin (one goal, one assist), and Parker (two goals, one assist) all contributed to multiple scores.

In goal Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA) continued her strong season posting eight saves on 10 shots while adding a steal.  The Bulldogs took 35 shots for the game (.286), and were 1-for-2 on powerplays.  

Redlands returns to the pool next Saturday, April 16 when they travel to take on Occidental College beginning at 11:00am.  The last time these two teams met the Bulldogs won 7-3.
