REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team put together another strong defensive game Sunday morning, but couldn't get any offense going as they fell 8-3 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps inside the Thompson Aquatic Center.

After putting together a four-game winning streak the Bulldogs have now lost two straight and move to 4-7, 1-4 SCIAC.

It took two minutes for the first goal of the game to be scored, which came from CMS and it took another two minutes for them to tack on another as they led 2-0 midway through.  Finally at the 1:14 mark the Maroon and Grey broke through thanks to senior attacker Holly Kvanvig (Beaverton, OR) converting a power play goal.

It was once again a stalemate in the 2nd Quarter, with neither team able to find the back of the net until 3:28 was left on the clock.  That's when the Athenas would tack on another two goals to take a 4-1 lead into the break.  Out of the half the Bulldogs made some adjustments and it paid off as they found their offensive rhythm with two goals pulling them within four.  The first coming from Kvanvig off a feed from Danielle Cary (Riverside, CA) and the second inside set by Sydney Sereg (Fullerton, CA) thanks to a nice entry pass from Kvanvig.

After that the offense would go stagnant for UR being held scoreless over the final 8:30 as CMS would lock in defensively limiting the Bulldogs to just four shots in the 4th Quarter.

Redlands took 20 shots for the game (.150), was 1-for-8 on power plays and gave up two 5-meter penalties.  The defense was tough though limiting CMS to a 1-for-5 mark on extra-person opportunities, while forcing 13 turnovers.

Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA) was huge between the pipes posting eight saves (.500).  Kvanvig along with her two goals and an assist also had a steal.  Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA) despite not adding a tally did total four steals and two drawn exclusions.

Redlands remains in conference play this Wednesday, March 16 when they host Cal Lutheran beginning at 4:00pm.
