Women’s Water Polo Set to Square off Against Pomona-Pitzer in First Day of SCIAC Championship Tournament

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) recently released the seedings and schedule of the upcoming SCIAC Women's Water Polo Championships. The Bulldogs finished the regular season with an 8-21 overall record with a 3-5 mark in conference, which places them as the No. 7 seed in the tournament. The Maroon and Gray is set to take on No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on Friday, April 21, at 10:45 a.m. at the University of La Verne.

Sophomore utility player Kolby Kahahawai (Kailua, HI) currently leads the team with 42 goals, while sophomore goalkeeper Katelyn Jenkins (Bellevue, WA) has acted as a brick wall between the posts making 90 stops on the season. Jenkins also recently received Redlands' first women's water polo athlete of the week honor on Monday, April 10.

The rest of the tournament schedule is as follows: No. 3 La Verne vs No. 6 Chapman University at 12:30 p.m., No. 4 Cal Lutheran University vs. No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 2:15 p.m. It is a double-elimination tournament with the championship match to be played on Sunday at 3:15 p.m. and the winner earning the automatic berth to the NCAA tournament.
