It was announced on Monday by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) that three University of Redlands women's water polo players garnered recognition with postseason honors. Senior goalkeeper Julie Lupfer (San Diego, CA) headlined the trio with her NCAA Division III First-Team All-America nod, while senior utility player Jaci Cochrane (San Bernardino, CA) gained a spot on the Second Team. Finally, junior center-defender Deandra Van Houten (Huntington Beach, CA) received Honorable Mention for the Bulldogs.
After two seasons as an Honorable Mention, Lupfer receives her inaugural All-America First-Team accolade. During the 2014 campaign, she patrolled the Redlands cage while tallying 323 saves to break the school's single-season record by one. In addition, she solidified her spot at the top of the career list with more than 1,000 saves to her name over the course of four seasons. This standard is more than 300 beyond the second-best mark in Redlands history.
Lupfer also made similar accomplishments with goalie steals, nabbing 73 this season for a new Bulldog standard. She completed her career with 219 steals to further strengthen her position at the top of the program's list.
Following her Honorable Mention in 2013, Cochrane collects an All-America Second-Team nod in her final season with the Bulldogs. This second-year competitor led the team by offensively firing on all cylinders, amassing 56 goals and 42 assists in 2014. She also ranked second on the squad with 38 ejections drawn.
Earlier this season, Lupfer and Cochrane both collected All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honors.
Van Houten finishes out a solid third campaign with the Maroon and Gray with her ACWPC Honorable Mention. This offensive threat provided 45 goals to rank second behind Cochrane. She also recorded 32 ejections drawn and 24 steals for a well-rounded effort in the pool.
