Four U of R Volleyball players named CSC Academic All-Region

REDLANDS, Calif. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2022 Academic All-District Team, and the University of Redlands women's volleyball team has four members. The four recipients are setter Shelby Dawson (Fontana, CA), outside hitter Bailey Hoblitzell (Elk Grove, CA), libero Laural Pittman (Los Angeles, CA), and setter Maddy Schonauer (Bakersfield, CA).

Dawson played in 13 matches and had 14 kills, 84 assists, and 44 digs. She had 13 assists and nine digs vs. St. Scholastica (Sept. 2) and had a career-high four kills with 10 assists and five digs at Occidental (Oct. 22). She is a Psychology major and after graduation plans to attend graduate school.  

Hoblitzell played in a career-high 16 matches while posting career-highs with 38 kills, three assists, four service aces, 18 digs, 12 total blocks, and 49 points. She posted a career-high seven kills at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS | Sept. 27). She had a career-high two total blocks twice, with the most recent game at Cal Lutheran (Oct. 29). She is a Psychology major and after graduation plans to enter the Air Force Academy.  

Pittman was the defensive engine for the Bulldogs, playing in 18 matches with a career-high 11 service aces and added 29 assists and a team-high 183 digs. In the season-opener vs. St. Scholastics (Sept. 2) she had a career-high 25 digs. She also had her second career 20-assist match vs. Caltech (Oct. 15). She has not yet declared her major but wants to become a Pharmacist.  

Schonauer played in a career-high 15 matches and posted six kills, 15 assists, 10 service aces, 69 digs, and 16 points, all career-highs. She had a career-day with four kills and four points at Whittier (Oct. 7). She then had five assists and 10 digs vs. Caltech (Oct. 15), both career-highs. She is a Psychology major and after graduation will attend graduate school.
