The University of Redlands women's volleyball team took to the road on Friday night for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match against the Caltech Beavers.  With efficiency and consistency, the Bulldogs dominated the home team by scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-8 to complete the season sweep of the Beavers.

Redlands jumped out to sizeable leads in all three sets, with the biggest early advantage coming in the opening frame when sophomore outside hitter Kaylee Burdick (Sun Valley, CA) rattled off six-straight serves to initiate the scoring.  She recorded two aces during this stretch and guided the Bulldogs to a 6-0 lead.

From here, the Maroon and Gray's efficient offensive attack simply took over, as freshman opposite Megan Houston (Normandy Park, WA), and freshman middle hitters Sofia Olsson (Cupertino, CA) and Sammi Tafoya (Granite Bay, CA) successfully patrolled the net with quality kills en route to the first-set victory.  Burdick and freshman outside hitter Christina Casey (Sherwood, OR) added to the Bulldogs' effectiveness, contributing to a team hitting percentage of .370.

The second set saw much of the same, with Redlands raising the bar with a .450 hitting percentage.

With senior setter Ellie McLeod (Redlands, A) orchestrating the offense, the Bulldogs finished the night at .364.  In addition to McLeod's 15 assists, Redlands gained two or more assists from sophomore setter Jackie Andrade (Seattle, WA), senior defensive specialist Alex Michel (Loma Linda, CA), and freshman libero Lauren Lux (San Jose, CA).

Lux also led the team with nine digs.

Overall, Tafoya impressed along the net with her .625 hitting percentage, while Houston recorded a .556 mark.  They both did so without a single error.

Redlands (12-11, 3-10 SCIAC) returns home to the friendly confines of Currier Gym on Saturday, October 22, for a SCIAC match against Whittier College at 3 p.m. on Homecoming Weekend.
