Redlands Volleyball Swept by No. 15 Cal Lutheran

The University of Redlands volleyball team traveled to Thousand Oaks on Saturday and suffered a three-set sweep to the 15th-ranked Regals of Cal Lutheran University. Despite out-blocking their opponents, the Bulldogs struggled offensively en route to the 16-25, 23-25, 16-25 defeat.

The Maroon and Gray gained outstanding performances from a duo of right-side hitters as senior Alex Martin (Highlands Ranch, CO) and junior Alexa Herlosky (Henderson, NV) posted respective hitting percentages of .500 and .545. Martin knocked down seven kills with no errors, while Herlosky crushed seven balls with only one error on 11 attempts.

Herlosky also made the blocking highlight reel with two solo shutdowns and two assists, accounting for three of the team's eight total blocks.

The Regals mustered four blocks in their victory.

Sophomore setter Jennifer Wacker (Longmont, CO) distributed 15 assists and sophomore outside hitter Morgan Buckner (San Rafael, CA) supplied 14 digs, earning team-high performances in each category.

CLU's senior Jackie Russell continued her record-setting career by dishing out 28 assists while connecting with nine teammates on two or more occasions.

Redlands (1-9, 1-2 SCIAC) strives to put one in the win column on Tuesday when it hosts the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at 7:30 p.m. in Currier Gym.
