No. 12 Cal State East Bay managed to take three out of four
games from the University of Redlands women’s volleyball team
on Sept. 6, and the Bulldogs fell to 0-3 on the season.
The Pioneers controlled the tempo throughout the first game,
winning 25-20. Redlands evened the score in the second game by a
25-20 score, but Cal State East Bay handily won the final two games
by scores of 25-18 and 25-16.
Sophomore middle blocker Megan Phillips (Vista, CA) and junior
outside hitter Ali Massei (San Carlos, CA) each tallied nine kills
while junior setter Kelina Smith (Kurtistown, HI) served up 20
assists. Defensively, junior defensive specialist Lauren Harding
(Altadena, CA) led the way with 19 digs.
Redlands takes on No. 6 Trinity University (TX) tonight in its
final game of the Puget Sound Premier.
