Four U of R Women’s Tennis players named CSC Academic All-Region

REDLANDS, Calif. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2023 Academic All-District Team for Women's Tennis this week with the University of Redlands having four players recognized for the first time in their careers, including senior Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA), juniors Madison Sherwood (Las Vegas, NV) and Olivia Rockwood (Park City, UT) and sophomore Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA)

The 2023 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. With their selections, these four Bulldogs move onto the CSC Academic All-America ballot, and the Academic All-American teams will be announced at the end of May.
 
This season, Bolock, Sherwood, Rockwood and Brady all played a major role in helping the Bulldogs earn a spot in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament as the No. 3 seed, while posting a 9-6, 4-3 SCIAC record.

Bolock graduated with a degree in English Literature, posted a 3.91 GPA and plans to become an English Teacher, while coaching.  On the year she played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Bulldogs.  She was ranked No. 10 in singles in the West Region, was named 1st Team All-SCIAC and had an 8-4 record in singles, which included a 3-3 mark in SCIAC.

Rockwood, who was also named 1st Team All-SCIAC is majoring in Psychology, has a 3.70 GPA and plans to attend graduate school to earn her Ph.D.  She played both No. 2 and No. 3 singles and played at the top spot in doubles.  She was 9-4 in singles, going 5-2 in SCIAC.

Bolock and Rockwood paired up together to play No. 1 doubles and ranked No. 4 in the West Region after boasting a 10-4 record and a 5-2 SCIAC mark. 

Brady was recently named 2nd Team All-SCIAC and is majoring in Business Administration, has a 3.75 GPA and plans to travel upon graduation.  She played both No. 2 and No. 3 singles compiling a 9-3 record, which included a 5-1 mark in SCIAC.  She was 6-3 at No. 3 and a perfect 3-0 at No. 2.  For the second straight year she teamed up with Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) in doubles at No. 2 and again found success going 9-5, 4-3 SCIAC.  They ranked No. 15 in the West Region.          

Sherwood was a mainstay at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles for the Maroon and Grey this season.  She is majoring in Psychology, has a 3.60 GPA and plans to attend graduate school to earn her Ph.D.  In singles she was steady putting together an 8-5 mark, including a 4-3 record in SCIAC.  She paired up with first-years Mia Goldstein (Ann Arbor, MI) and Karly Rojas (Poulsbo, WA) in doubles and went 5-5.
