REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team wrapped up their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) schedule Saturday morning at the Verdieck Tennis Center sweeping Occidental College 9-0.

The Bulldogs have now won two in a row and improve to 8-5, 4-3 SCIAC.  They have clinched a spot in the upcoming SCIAC Tournament, but will have to wait and see if they will be the No. 3 or No. 4 seed with Caltech having to play one remaining match next Tuesday.

Redlands jumped out in front quickly sweeping doubles and carried that momentum into singles despite facing some tough match-ups across the board.  Madison Sherwood (Las Vegas, NV) and Mia Goldstein (Ann Arbor, MI) rolled 8-1 at No. 3 putting UR on the board.  Olivia Rockwood (Park City, UT) and Kendall Bolock followed with an 8-5 win at the top spot and Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) and Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) wrapped up the sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 2.

L. Rockwood was the first one off in singles at No. 3 taking it 6-1, 6-2 and Brady grabbed the clinch at No. 2 winning in straights 6-0, 6-4.  The wins continued to come for the Maroon and Grey with Sherwood giving up two games at No. 6 6-0, 6-2, Goldstein cruising 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 and O'Brien holding strong at No. 4 winning 6-3, 6-2.  The last match on was Bolock at the top spot who needed a third set breaker to pick up the sweep for the Bulldogs.  She went in front quickly 6-3, but would see the match leveled with Andi Fukushige taking the second set 6-4.  The third set breaker would go to Bolock pulling out the 10-8 win.

Redlands ends their regular season schedule tomorrow, Sunday, April 16 when they host UC Santa Cruz in a big Division III West regional showdown beginning at 10:00am inside the Verdieck Tennis Center.
