
CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team grabbed a pair of points in a Saturday afternoon loss to No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer 7-2.
The Bulldogs have now dropped three in a row moving to 6-5, 2-3 SCIAC.
Redlands fell behind 3-0 after doubles, but managed to create some pushback in singles with a pair of wins. Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) and Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) would fall 8-1 at No. 2, Madison Sherwood (Las Vegas, NV) and Mia Goldstein (Ann Arbor, MI) would pick up two games at No. 3 and Olivia Rockwood (Park City, UT) ands Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) would have the best match coming at the top spot falling 8-4.
In singles the Maroon and Grey grabbed wins at No. 2 from L. Rockwood who would pull out a three-setter beating Georgia Ryan 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 and Brady at No. 3 who would battle back from a set down to win 3-6, 7-5, 14-12.
Another full distance match came at No. 4 from Goldstein who grinded to level the match at a set apiece. But in the third set breaker she couldn't carry the momentum from the previous set falling 6-4, 3-6, 10-3. Other matches scored included Bolock at No. 1 falling 6-2, 6-0, O'Brien at No. 5 getting broken in each set in a 6-3, 7-5 decision at Sherwood at No. 6 grabbing a game in each set at 6-1, 6-1.
Redlands looks to get back into the win column this week on Tuesday, April 11 when they host Chapman University beginning at 3:00pm.
