REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team was edged 6-3 Friday afternoon against No. 16 Caltech inside the Verdieck Tennis center.

The Bulldogs took two of three doubles to get out to a quick start but would only pick up one singles win as they would drop to 6-4, 2-2 SCIAC.

Redlands dominated at the top two spots with Olivia Rockwood (Park City, UT) and Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) rolling at No. 1 8-2 followed by Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) and Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) winning by the same score 8-2 at No. 2.  This gave UR an early 2-0 advantage but they failed to complete the sweep as Mia Goldstein (Ann Arbor, MI) and Madison Sherwood (Las Vegas, NV) would fall 8-5 at No. 3 giving Caltech some life.

The Beavers carried this momentum into singles take five of six spots with the lone win for the Bulldogs coming at No. 3 from Brady who would claim a 6-1, 6-2 decisive win.  Three other matches were in straight sets with Sherwood falling 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6, O'Brien dropping a 6-3, 6-3 match at No. 5 and Goldstein at No. 4 getting broken in each set in a 7-5, 6-3 decision.

L. Rockwood and K. Bolock were the last two matches on and they both went the distance in their respective matches.  Bolock went out in front quickly taking the first set 6-0 but would see Emily Zhang rally to win the next two 6-3, 6-1.  Rockwood also had an early lead taking the opening frame 6-4 at No. 2, but she too could not convert as she would drop the second and third sets both by the score of 6-3.
