REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team had a tough match-up with No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps within Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play Saturday falling 8-1 inside the Verdieck Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs picked up a point against the Athenas and had opportunities to grab another three points in the match, but the points would fall for CMS as Redlands would drop to 6-3, 2-1 SCIAC.

UR dropped all three doubles points and managed to grab a win at the top spot in singles, while going the distance in another two matches.  Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) had the lone point for the Maroon and Grey on the day coming at No. 1 singles winning 6-3, 6-1 over Alisha Chulani who is ranked No. 2 in the West Region.  She also paired with Olivia Rockwood (Park City, UT)) at No. 1 doubles and they would fall 8-4.

L. Rockwood had a match at No. 2 singles taking on Audrey Yoon.  She took the opening set against the No. 5 ranked player in the West Region 6-4 but would drop the next two 6-2, 8-6.  Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) and Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) had a chance to put UR on the board in doubles nearly pulling off an upset of No. 6 Sena Selby and Kate Wurster at No. 2 forcing a tiebreaker, but would eventually fall 8-7 (5).

The other doubles match was at No. 3 with Mia Goldstein (Ann Arbor, MI) and Gabby Rockwood (Park City, UT) pairing up together, but they found it tough to find a rhythm as they would drop 8-3 allowing CMS to take a 3-0 lead into singles.

Brady had another chance to grab a point for the Bulldogs coming at No. 3 as she took on No. 14 Ella Brissett.  She battled her way back from a set down, 6-3 to take the second 6-1 before falling 10-5 in the third.  O'Brien failed to get a game at No. 5 falling 6-0, 6-0, Madison Sherwood (Las Vegas, NV) would go 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 and Goldstein would total four games in a 6-3, 6-1 loss at No. 4.

Redlands returns to the courts this Friday, April 7 when they host No. 16 Caltech beginning at 3:00pm at the Verdieck Tennis Center.
