CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team saw their run in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament come to an end Friday in the semi-finals as they fell 5-0 to No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The Maroon and Grey conclude their 2022 season posting a 10-7, 5-2 SCIAC record and finish No. 3 within the final conference standings.
The match was played to decision with the Bulldogs finding themselves in an early 3-0 hole after doubles. Liv Rockwood (Park City, UT) and Mia Fitzgerald (Kilauea, HI) had the best chance for a point coming at No. 2 where they fell 8-4, while Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) and Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) would drop an 8-2 decision at No. 3.
In singles Redlands stayed competitive despite seeing CMS pick up points at No. 4 and No. 5. Fitzgerald fell 6-1, 6-2 and Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) would drop 6-3, 6-0.
The other matches on court when the match was decided included L. Rockwood at No. 1 who was down 7-5, 0-1, Brady at No. 2 who was down 6-4, 0-1, Kendall Bolock at No. 3 who was down 6-3, 3-2, and Gabby Rockwood at No. 6 who was down 7-5, 5-0.
