U of R Women’s Tennis Set for SCIAC Semi-Finals Against Claremont-M-S

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team is set for the semi-finals of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament, which is set to begin tomorrow, Friday, May 6.

The Bulldogs come into the tournament as the No. 3 seed and will travel to Claremont, CA to take on the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps who are the No. 2 seed.  Redlands is making their 14th appearance in the SCIAC Tournament.  They enter the weekend finishing the regular season with a 10-6, 5-2 SCIAC record.  They have also won four of their last six matches coming against Whittier College, Occidental College, Caltech and Chapman University.

The last time the Bulldogs won the SCIAC Championship was back in 2009 when they beat Whittier College (5-0), Cal Lutheran (8-1), and Pomona-Pitzer (5-4).  In 2008 and 2010 they finished as runner-ups.

They will rely heavily on their All-SCIAC performers Liv Rockwood (1st Team) and Kendall Bolock (2nd Team), but don't forget about first year Kiana Brady at No. 2 who was in the running for SCIAC Newcomer of the Year recognition.  This is a balanced program 1-thru-6 who looks to avenge their previous loss to the Athenas back on April 30 (9-0).
