Redlands Women’s Tennis Celebrates Seniors Against Athenas

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team wrapped up the 2022 regular season Saturday dropping a 9-0 decision to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Prior to the loss the Bulldogs had won three in a row and four of their last five.  They move to 10-6, 5-2 SCIAC.

The Maroon and Grey were swept in doubles all by the same score 8-2.  In singles they put up a fight, but couldn't spark a comeback, as they would drop all six matches.  Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) had a great match-up at No. 3 and looked poised for an upset, but dropped in a pair of tight sets 7-6 (5), 6-4.

Liv Rockwood (Park City, UT) at the top spot after dropping 6-2 in the first set put together a fierce battle in the second only to get broken late at 6-4.  Freshman Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) was in the same boat at No. 2, falling 6-1 to open her match and despite keeping the second set close couldn't force a third dropping 6-3.

Senior Mia Fitzgerald (Kilauea, HI) got off to a strong start at No. 4 getting broken just once as she would go down a set 6-4.  But she couldn't keep the pressure on in the second falling 6-1.

The other two matches on were Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) at No. 5 and Gabby Rockwood (Park City, UT) at No. 6 who would combine for three games.  Lehman would fall 6-2, 6-0 and G. Rockwood would drop 6-1, 6-0.

Redlands enters the SCIAC Tournament next weekend, Friday, May 6 as the No. 3 seed and will square off against Claremont-M-S again, this time on the road beginning at 3:00pm.
