Bulldog Women’s Tennis Ojai Championship Bound

Ojai Tennis Championship Draws

VENTURA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team is headed to the 2022 Ojai Tennis Championships this weekend, being played in Ventura, CA from April 22-24.

Four Bulldogs will be competing in both the Open Singles and Doubles Draws with three of them earning seeds within the singles.

Liv Rockwood (Park City, UT), the top player for the Maroon and Grey comes in as the highest seed for the program locking in the No. 4 seed.  She opens with a bye first round but will then have to face off against the winner of Megan Flores (Trinity) and Carolina Groff Hinojosa (Cal Lutheran) in the Round of 16.

First year Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) who has been red hot this season playing No. 2 for the Bulldogs comes into the Championships as the No. 7 seed and will go against Heidi Levanen from Cal Lutheran in the Round of 32.

Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) is the last Bulldog to earn a seed coming in at No. 8 and will open the Round of 32 against Kayla Kling from Cal Lutheran.

Gabby Rockwood (Park City, UT) is the last Bulldog to compete in singles and will also go against a Regal in the Round of 32 facing off against Brenna Foreman.

Due to the finals schedule and graduation this week for the University of Redlands Brady and fellow first year Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) were unable to pair up together, the same with Mia Fitzgerald (Kilauea, HI) and L. Rockwood.  This forced Brady and L. Rockwood to come together as one of the doubles teams.  They will open the Round of 16 with Erickson/Fhima from Chapman University.

The other team is the standard duo of Bolock and G. Rockwood who have played in the top spot all season for the Maroon and Grey.  They will go against Kling/Ahmadi from Cal Lutheran.

Coach's Thoughts

"We are looking forward to competing at one of the most prestigious events in tennis, the Ojai Championships.  We've had a great couple of weeks of preparation, and it will be valuable experience for our top players in the program."
