LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team made quick work of Occidental College 9-0 on the road Saturday morning, while at the same time clinching a spot in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Post Season Tournament.

With the win the Bulldogs improve to 9-5, 4-1 SCIAC and have won three of their last four.

The Maroon and Grey carried the momentum over from yesterday's grind against Caltech (5-4) sweeping doubles with Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) and Gabby Rockwood (Park City, UT) grabbing the first point at the top spot 8-3 followed by first-years Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) and Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) at No. 3 taking a pair of breaks to win 8-5.

The test came at No. 2 from Mia Fitzgerald (Kilauea, HI) and Liv Rockwood (Park City, UT) who needed a breaker to pick up the clean sweep for the Bulldogs.  They would show off their tenacity winning 8-7 (1).  In singles every match was decided in straight sets with Redlands giving up just thirteen games across all six matchups.  Brady, Bolock, and Fitzgerald rolled 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles.  G. Rockwood surrendered a game in each set at No. 5 winning 6-1, 6-1, Abby Nash (Bellevue, WA) came out on top at No. 6 6-2, 6-3, and L. Rockwood battled hard at No. 1 pulling out a 6-4 opening frame before cruising in the second 6-2.

Redlands will now take a break from SCIAC competition and will now set their sights on the Ojai Championships in Ventura, CA taking place next weekend, April 22-24.

Coach's Thoughts

"The team played one of their cleanest matches all season today.  Picking up right from where they left off after the win against Caltech (5-4).  They have been putting in the work every single day and it paid off this week in a pair of wins.  Looking forward to getting back on the court in preparation for the Ojai Championships next weekend."

Coach's Shoutout

"For today's match the shoutout goes to the entire team, picking up a clean sweep is no easy task and they have now done it for the first time this year.  I am proud of the team today and how they controlled from start to finish.  They never let Occidental into the match."
