ORANGE, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team handed No. 37 Chapman University a tough loss within Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play Friday afternoon rolling 8-1.

The Bulldogs who held a 3-0 lead against No. 8 Middlebury last weekend before falling 6-3 rebounded nicely against the Panthers sweeping doubles before taking five of six singles matches.  Redlands improves to 7-4, 2-0 SCIAC.

Doubles remained the same 1-3 with Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) and Gabby Rockwood (Park City, UT) winning 8-4 at the top spot, Mia Fitzgerald (Kilauea, HI) and Liv Rockwood (Park City, UT) made quick work of their opponents 8-2 at No. 2 and the freshmen tandem of Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) and Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) rolled 8-3 at No. 3, picking up the clean sweep out of the gate.

This momentum carried over into singles with each match being decided in straight sets.  L. Rockwood (No. 1), Brady (No. 2), and Bolock (No. 3) all won their sets 6-2, 6-1.  Rockwoods opponent, Aliya Allyn actually was coming off a win over the No. 2 ranked player in Division III.  Fitzgerald gave up five games total at No. 4 but still controlled the match 6-2, 6-3.  G. Rockwood surrendered just one game at No. 6 winning 6-1, 6-0 and Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) would force a breaker at No. 5, but couldn't get out in front falling 7-6, 7-5.

Redlands has a short turnaround traveling to No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer tomorrow, Saturday, April 2 beginning at 4:00pm.

Coach's Thoughts

"This was a total team win today.  All the women brought it from start to finish and have now swept their fourth straight opponent in doubles, which is a serious achievement and a testament to the hard work they have been putting in all season.  Our singles came out energized and finished the job with everyone taking care of business against a tough opponent.  This was a great restart to the SCIAC season and we're looking forward to facing off with one of the best teams in the country tomorrow, in Pomona-Pitzer."

Coach's Shoutout

"Livi played a really complete match today.  She has put in a ton of extra work on the practice court and she is starting to become the player that she is working so hard on being.  Aliya Allyn who she beat today is one of the top players in the West Region and Livi showed she belongs in that conversation as well.  I am thrilled for her performance today clinching the match against a tough conference opponent."
