No. 34 Redlands Women's Tennis Downs Westmont College in Exhibition Matchup

The No. 34 University of Redlands women's tennis team jumped into action on Saturday afternoon by taking on NAIA competitor Westmont College in an exhibition match. In dominating fashion, the Bulldogs shined in the 6-1 victory in Santa Barbara.

Redlands took the final two doubles matches with a 6-1 result off the rackets of senior Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) and junior Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) at No. 3. Sophomore Halle Martinucci (Burlingame, CA) and first-year Olivia Rockwood (Park City, UT) kept things rolling at No. 1 with a win by a 6-4 score.

First-year Gabby Rockwood (Park City, UT) set the tone early for the Maroon and Gray by topping her No. 6 opponent, 6-0, 6-0 before Martinucci took care of business at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-1 showing. 

Sophomore Mia Fitzgerald (Hanalei, HI) officially sealed the deal for the Bulldogs' triumph by defeating the No. 2 opponent in a 6-0, 6-0 effort.

In addition, first-year Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) registered a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles while junior Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, CA) won a hard-fought 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 match at No. 4.

Redlands hosts Concordia University-Irvine on Saturday, February 8, for an 11 a.m. exhibition match on Verdieck Courts.
