Sarah Ikioka and Elizabeth Johnson Selected to Compete at NCAA Individual Women's Tennis Championships

It was announced earlier today that sophomore Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) and junior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) of the University of Redlands were selected to compete in the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Individual Championships, which take place on Thursday, May 24, through Saturday, May 26, at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont.

Johnson and Ikioka represent the Bulldogs as one of 16 doubles teams to qualify for the individual championships.  The All-America duo returns to the national stage after advancing to the semifinals of the 2017 doubles championships. During the current campaign, the Bulldogs' top tandem has earned a 19-8 record that included victories over foes from seventh-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, No. 14 Bowdoin College (ME), No. 19 University of Mary Washington (VA), among others.

As one of 32 singles players in the tournament, Ikioka makes her second-consecutive appearance at the NCAA Individual Championships.  This season, she put together a 17-8 mark as the No. 1 singles player for the Bulldogs.  She recently orchestrated a six-match winning streak that included victories over counterparts from three, top-40 teams.

The women's tennis committee will announce the draw for the individual championships on the final day of the team competition, which is May 23.
