Five Bulldogs Represent Redlands on SCIAC All-Academic Women’s Tennis Team

It was announced on Wednesday that seniors Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI) and Maddie Morton (Henderson, NV), juniors Natalie Etchegaray (Placentia, CA) and Alyssa Gilbert (Mukilteo, WA), and sophomore Emily Murnin (Salt Lake City, UT) represent the University of Redlands on the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Women's Tennis Team.

Morton returns to the scholarly list after a one-year hiatus from Bulldog tennis.  She completed her degree in Business Administration earlier this spring.

After earning her degree in Communicative Disorders, Sumida makes her inaugural appearance on the SCIAC's All-Academic Team to finish her career at Redlands on a high note.

Both third-year competitors repeat as all-academic honorees due to their stellar success in the classroom.  Etchegaray is pursuing a degree in Biology, while Gilbert studies Global Business as her major.

Murnin collects her inaugural such honor in her first year of eligibility for the award.

This scholarly quintet contributed to the Bulldogs' solid season that included a 14-8 overall record and final national ranking of No. 18.

To receive this honor, student-athletes must own a 3.40 cumulative GPA or higher, must have completed at least one calendar year at her institution, and must have reached a minimum of sophomore eligibility.  For a complete list of this year's recipients, please visit www.thesciac.org.
