The No. 13 University of Redlands women's tennis returned home to Verdieck Courts for Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition against Cal Lutheran University.  Following an impressive doubles sweep, the Bulldogs took care of business in singles to preserve the shutout against the Regals.

The No. 1 duo of junior Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI) and senior Jessica Ly (Torrance, CA) cruised to a flawless 8-0 showing, before junior Julia Pollak (Holland, PA) and sophomore Natalie Etchegaray (Placentia, CA) took down their No. 2 opponents by a score of 8-1.  The sophomore tandem of Lauren Villanueva (El Segundo, CA) and Gabriela Vasquez (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 victory at No. 3.

After Etchegaray's No. 2 opponent retired just two games into the action, Ly captured the deciding point for the team scoring with her second blanking of the day, as she came out victorious at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Villanueva, senior Paige Press (La Jolla, CA), and freshman Emily Murnin (Salt Lake City, UT) all registered straight-set wins for the Bulldogs, while Sumida came up with a 4-6, 6-0, 10-6 performance at No. 3.

Redlands (8-9, 3-3 SCIAC) looks forward to hosting Whittier College in a conference tilt on Friday, April 11, at 2 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
