The No. 13 University of Redlands women's tennis team opened a busy week of competition with a tough loss to 11th-ranked Washington University of St. Louis (MO) on Tuesday afternoon.  While facing off against the Bears for the second time in 11 days, the Bulldogs' result unfortunately remained the same as their first meeting at 1-8.

After dropping all three doubles matches for the first time this season, the Maroon and Gray gained its only point of the overall scoring when junior Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI) fired off an impressive 6-2, 6-1 performance at the No. 3 slot.

However, that was all the Bulldogs could muster, with the opponents taking the five remaining singles matches in straight sets.

Redlands (5-3) continues its challenging slate on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. showdown against No. 8 Carnegie Mellon University (PA).
