Six U of R Women's Soccer players named CSC Academic All-Region

REDLANDS, Calif. - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2022 Academic All-District Team, and the University of Redlands women's soccer team has six members. The six members are defender Ciara Aw (Shoreline, WA), defender Avery Bergschneider (Denver, CO), midfielder Peyton Fendrich (Clackamas, OR), forward Taylor Pisan (Redmond, WA), forward Skylar Pogue (Simi Valley, CA), and midfielder Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA).

Aw played and started a career-high 17 games. She helped the Bulldogs defense post four shutouts and eight games where they conceded one or fewer goals. She is an Economics major and plans to work in New York City for KeyBank upon graduation.  

Bergschneider became an integral part of the Bulldogs backline in her sophomore season, starting and playing in a career-high 17 games. She also scored her first career goal in a 2-0 home win vs. Caltech (Sept. 17). She and the rest of the Bulldogs defense posted four shutouts. She is an HMS: Health, Medicine, and Society major and wants to become a Physical Therapist after graduation.  

Fendrich was the Bulldogs leading scorer with four goals. She set a career-high with 17 starts. Scored one of the two Bulldogs goals in a 2-1 win at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Sept. 14). She almost helped lead a come back at Pomona-Pitzer (Nov. 2) with a goal as they Bulldogs scored twice but lost 3-2 in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament Quarterfinal. She is a Business Administration major and after graduation plans on taking a few months to travel then coming back to work in the marketing and then sustainability field.  

Pisan was a key player in attack off the bench with 16 games played. She assisted on the game-winning goal vs. Whittier (Oct. 1). That was her first career assist. She is a Business Administration major and wants to work in sales after graduation.

Pogue in her senior season scored her first collegiate goal, the game-winner, in a 2-1 road win at Occidental (Sept. 21). Overall, she played and started 17 games with 12 shots and four shots on-goal, all career bests. She is a Biology major and plans to earn her Ph.D in Marine Biology upon graduation.

Zielinski finished her Bulldog soccer career with her second-straight three-goal, one-assist season. Her total shots went from 12 last season to 32 this season and her shots on-goal also increased, from 10 to 15. In the four games she contributed on a goal, the Bulldogs went 2-1-1. She is a Biology major and plans to attend graduate school.
