REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team clinched a spot in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament Wednesday night despite falling 3-1 to Pomona-Pitzer.

The Bulldogs celebrated their nine graduates prior to the game, which included Charlie Baum (Hesperia, CA), Courtney Stewart (San Jose, CA), Kailey Hall (Tacoma, WA), Peyton Fendrich (Clackamas, OR), Alessandra Echauri (Gilroy, CA), Skylar Pogue (Simi Valley, CA), Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA), Ciara Aw (Shoreline, WA) and Taylor Pisan (Redmond, WA).

The Maroon and Grey move to 6-8-1, 6-4-1 SCIAC and currently sit as the No. 3 seed within the standings with one game to play.  UR surrendered just one goal in the first half and looked to go into the break all tied up, but the equalizer would be waved off following a controversial offsides call.  The first look for Redlands came in the 16th minute from Zielinski who missed a header wide.  She then returned a few minutes later taking another shot, which forced a save from the Sagehen keeper.

In the 32nd minute, the Sagehens got on the scoreboard.  A shot was taken by Shay Reifert, which was denied by Stewart.  But the rebound fell right to Charlotte Tapp in front of the goal who was able to tap it in for the go-ahead.

Celine Akroush (Pasadena, CA) and Fendrich each had shots following the goal, but neither made it on frame as they got blocked by the defensive unit.

Baum was able to get a cross in the box minutes later, which she headed towards goal, but it was stopped by the keeper as the game remained a one-score differential heading into the break.

Out of the half the Sagehens would put up another :41 seconds into the period as Amanda Khu connected.  Stewart would make a pair of saves over the next nine minutes for the Bulldogs before Pomona-Pitzer would tack on insurance in the 55th again from Tapp.

Down three, the Bulldogs started pushing forward.  Zielinski was found in the box off a corner, which she would get a head on, but it was blocked around the six-yard box. Then in the 68th Sami Salinas (Foothill Ranch, CA) would get into the mix forcing a save from PP followed by Baum who did the same thing, but in the 74th

Three minutes after a Stewart save in the 75th the Bulldogs kept their comeback hopes alive with a shot from Fendrich that was saved back into play landing inside the six-yard box for Echauri who put it away for her first collegiate goal.

Redlands forced three more saves from the Sagehen keeper down the stretch and took seven shots, but none were able to connect as Pomona-Pitzer would hold on for the road victory.

Offensively the Bulldogs stayed with the Sagehens posting 21 shots, nine of which were on goal.  They also held a lopsided advantage on corner kicks 6-1.

Zielinski and Fendrich each tied for a career-high with five shots for the game. Baum had a very efficient evening with three shots with all of them being on-goal. Stewart played 82:28 and made five saves.

Redlands ends their regular season at Whittier College this Friday, October 28 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
