REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team celebrated Senior Day Saturday morning but saw it spoiled by California Lutheran University who came away with the 2-0 victory.

Prior to the game the Maroon and Grey recognized their seven seniors who were taking part in their final home game of their collegiate careers.  These seniors included Kennedy Kerr (Bellevue, WA), Lizzy Geringer (Fullerton, CA), Alanna Farrington (Sammamish, WA), Rilee Mezenen (Holladay, UT), Eva Vlassopoulos (Portland, OR), Tristen Sherley (Novato, CA), and Nolan Mendonca (San Diego, CA).

The loss ends the Bulldog's two-game winning streak as they move to 6-7, 5-5 SCIAC.  They still sit in a tie for 4th though with Claremont-M-S and Occidental.  Sherley jump-started the offense in the 18th minute getting a shot off on frame, which was turned away by Gabby Flores.  CLU who had taken four shots to start the game off, two of which were on goal found the back of the net in the 27th minute following a combination play in the box between Danielle Vis and Mackenzie Boulware.

Minutes later the U of R got some pressure again in the box this time from Junior Peyton Fendrich (Clackamas, OR) and Vlassopoulos.  Fendrich saw her look get blocked and Vlassopoulos missed left coming off a corner kick.

In the 36th minute, the Bulldogs had a pair of opportunities, with Vlassopoulos and Alessandra Echauri (Gilroy, CA) both getting their shot attempts blocked.

Cal Lutheran looked to add insurance in the 37th minute with Jalynne Magana missing a shot wide followed by Mandy Crawford who floated a shot over Courtney Stewart's (San Jose, CA) head, which hit the inside of the far post.  Then in the 40th minute, the Regals were able to find it as Darya Rasoli would beat the keeper following a long cross from the far corner of the UR half.

This gave CLU a 2-0 lead at the break and that's all they would need.  UR though didn't go down without a fight as they pressured out of the half.  First-year Sami Salinas (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) got things started in the 49th minute with a look on the frame, which was turned away by Flores.  Salinas and Fendrich then combined for another two looks on goal in the 54th and 56th minutes, respectively, but neither of them could find the back of the twine.

With the score still at 2-0, Farrington was able to force another save by Flores in the 74th minute, and Mendonca had the best look all morning coming in the 79th.  She floated a ball towards the back post getting it over the keeper's head, but somehow Flores was able to come down with it keeping the shutout intact.

Stewart finished with seven saves on the morning playing 83:21. Kerr played the final 6:39 but was not called upon.

Redlands showed off their offense putting together 14 shots for the game with seven being on frame.  Sherley added four shots to lead UR, Vlassopoulos tacked on three, and Fendrich and Salinas each recorded two.

The Bulldogs travel to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this Wednesday, October 27 with SCIAC Playoff implications on the line.  Game time is set for 7:00pm.
