U of R Women’s Soccer faces tough test with No. 20 Cal Lutheran

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team faced a tough test with Cal Lutheran University Saturday night falling 6-0 on the road.

After putting together four consecutive close contests, the Bulldogs have now been shutout twice in their last three games dropping them to 1-4, 0-2 SCIAC.

The Regals held the advantage on shots (18-5) and corner kicks (6-1).  Courtney Stewart (San Jose, CA) played almost 78 minutes between the posts for the Bulldogs collecting four saves, while Ciara Aw (Seattle, WA), Alessandra Echauri (Gilroy, CA), Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA), Malia Kuhl (Sammamish, WA), and Charlie Baum (Hesperia, CA) each recorded a shot.

CLU scored twice in the first half and tacked on another four in the second, three of which came within ten minutes of each other.  Redlands got their first shot from Baum in the 14th minute that was saved by CLU keeper Logan Duford.  In the second half Zielinski and Kuhl went back to back on the same possession but saw both attempts turned away.  Echauri took a strike in the 71st minute that was high and Aw finished the night off with a shot that went bottom center that was stopped by Duford.                

Redlands returns to Farquhar Field next Wednesday, September 22 to host Occidental College beginning at 7:00pm.
