The University of Redlands women's soccer team travelled to Orange on Saturday to face the Panthers of Chapman University in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown. Although the teams remained scoreless for the majority of the game, the Panthers found just enough space to fire off the game-winner in the 88th minute.

Senior midfielder McKenzie Oliger (Seattle, WA) uncorked five shots in the first half alone, with one going on-frame. Senior midfielder Erin Lau (Reno, NV), sophomore midfielder Lauren Bay (Oak Park, CA), and sophomore forward Hayley Romo (Port Orchard, WA) blasted two shots each, but to no avail. Although the Bulldogs outshot the Panthers 8-4, Chapman stacked its defense in the back, forcing most of the Maroon and Gray's shots to be blocked.

Junior goalkeeper Hannah Menk (Pleasanton, CA) reeled in two nice saves to keep the Panthers off the board in the first frame.

Unfortunately for Redlands, the Panthers finally broke through in the 88th minute.

Although freshman midfielder Alexa Glick (Boise, ID) had time to uncork one more shot, it was once again blocked by the Panthers, resulting in the Bulldogs' loss.

The Bulldog women's soccer team (1-4-0, 0-2-0 SCIAC) returns to the friendly confines of Farquhar Field on Wednesday, September 21, to take on the Leopards of the University of La Verne. Kickoff is slotted for 7 p.m.
