U of R Women’s Soccer Lands Quartet on NSCAA All-West Region Teams

It was recently announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) that four members of the University of Redlands women's soccer program were named to the NCAA Division III All-West Region Teams.  Following a solid campaign that culminated in the Bulldogs' 11-5-2 record and a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) regular-season championship, senior forward Savannah Laursen (Boise, ID) and senior defender Sam Keary (Mission Viejo, CA) reached First-Team honors, while sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Menk (Pleasanton, CA) hauled in Second-Team laurels, and junior defender Faith Campbell (Bainbridge Island, WA) represented Redlands on the Third Team.

After leading her squad in goals (9), assists (3), and points (21), Laursen capped off her final campaign with a bang by hauling in her fourth All-West Region nod and her second-consecutive First-Team recognition. Her scoring ability was pristine, as she netted a team-high four game-winners while boasting a .479 shots-on-goal percentage. Laursen came on strong during the latter half of the season by holding a three-game scoring streak that included six goals. During that streak, she provided the game-winner in each game. Earlier this season, Laursen was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year.

After becoming known as one of the top defenders in the conference, Keary receives confirmation of her abilities with her second-consecutive All-West Region award. Keary quarterbacked a defense that led the Bulldogs to a 1.12 goals-against average while assisting her team to six shutout victories. Furthermore, in all of the Bulldog victories, the defensive unit allowed one goal of fewer. Keary's skills stretched to the offensive end of the pitch, as she fired home one goal and dished out one assist on the season. Following the campaign, Keary was also named to the All-SCIAC First Team.

After manning the posts for 980:31 minutes in 16 games, Menk gains her inaugural All-West Region nod by landing on the Second Team. Throughout the season, Menk earned a 7-4-0 record that consisted of a .825 saves percentage and a 0.92 goals-against average.  Of the seven wins, Menk notched two of them in a shutout.  She hauled in a season-high eight saves against Occidental College on October 31 to surpass an early-season effort of seven saves in a 1-0 victory over Chapman University. Earlier this season, Menk landed on the All-SCIAC First Team.

Campbell rounds out the Bulldogs' quartet by earning an All-West Region Third-Team honor for the first time in her career. Alongside Keary, Campbell worked relentlessly to earn a goals-against average of 1.12 while contributing to six shutout victories. She provided key communication and distribution from the backline, taking on opponents' top offensive weapons on the wing.
