The University of Redlands women's soccer team shared the spoils with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday afternoon at Farquhar Field, tying the game, 1-1.  After falling behind in the second half, the Bulldogs showed their resilience by fighting back and scoring the tying goal with less than seven minutes remaining in regulation.

After what was a relatively quiet first half with not many shots for either side, Pomona-Pitzer struck first in the second stanza.  In the 61st minute, junior midfielder Sara Ach (San Diego, CA) dribbled to the byline and crossed the ball back on the ground to junior forward Allie Tao (Alamo, CA), who slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner of the net for the Sagehen lead.

Knowing they needed a goal, the Bulldogs pressed forward in search of the tying score.  Redlands finally got on the board in the 84th minute when freshman midfielder Savannah Laursen (Boise, ID) played a perfect through-ball to senior midfielder Kendall Pegan (Lafayette, CA), who one-timed it past the Sagehen goalkeeper into the back of the net.  The goal was Pegan's third on the campaign.

Both teams pushed forward to try and find the game-winner during regulation, but neither squad broke through, sending the game to overtime.

In the two overtime periods, Pomona-Pitzer out-shot Redlands, 6-4.  The Bulldogs, however, tallied four corner kicks during extra time, all resulting in dangerous scoring chances.  Despite the exciting finish to the match, neither team found the back of the net again, resulting in the 1-1 draw.

Senior goalkeeper Linzey Smith (Anaheim Hills, CA) went the distance for the Bulldogs, playing all 110 minutes while notching six crucial saves along the way.

Redlands (5-1-2, 4-1-1) takes to the road on Wednesday when they face off against Whittier College.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
