Watch Redlands Women’s Soccer in Saturday’s SCIAC Postseason Tournament Final against Occidental College!

It was announced earlier today that Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Soccer Postseason Tournament final between the University of Redlands and Occidental College will be available through live video streaming at http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/oxy.portal#. This link is also posted on the Redlands women's soccer schedule page at http://www.goredlands.com/sports/wsoc/2010-11/schedule.  Fans may log on to follow this exciting showdown, free of charge.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.in Eagle Rock on Patterson Field.

Saturday's matchup includes the Tigers of Occidental College, which posted an overall record of 11-3-3 to go along with a 9-2-1 mark in SCIAC competition.  Occidental managed to advance to the tournament final round by defeating third-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in dramatic fashion on Wednesday afternoon.  The score all squared up at 1-1 after 110 minutes, forcing penalty kicks to determine which team would advance.  Tied at 5-5 on PKs, freshman Georgia Wetmore netted the final shootout goal after supplying the Tigers' only score in regulation.

As the fourth seed, Redlands (9-9, 6-6 SCIAC) faced off against the top seed and No. 15 Cal Lutheran University in yesterday's other semifinal. Despite losing two regular-season games to the Regals, the Bulldogs rallied for an exciting 2-0 victory en route to upsetting the favored Cal Lutheran squad. Senior captain defender Chelsea Hafley (Redlands, CA) and junior forward Fionna Connolly (Salem, OR) provided the offensive excitement for the Maroon and Gray.  Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Foreman (San Jose, CA) held down the backline for her first collegiate postseason shutout victory.

Occidental College holds the regular-season advantage over the Bulldogs with two 1-0 victories during their earlier meetings in 2010.

The winner of Saturday's game gains the SCIAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship, which begins with first-round action on Nov. 11.
