THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (4-11, 2-9 SCIAC) scored ten goals in the opening quarter on their way to a 19-7 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) road win and season sweep at California Lutheran University (CLU) Wednesday evening.

The Bulldogs got off to a great start, scoring four times in the opening five minutes. Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) scored twice, which included the opening goal, and Mallory Morrissey (Coronado, CA) and Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA) also found the back of the net putting UR on top early.

Redlands maintained a shutout through the entire first quarter and extended their lead as Emma Beaver (Bend, OR) added a hat trick along with Walker and Jenna Bradford (Anaheim, CA) finding the back of the net. Webster assisted on two of the six goals while Morrissey also added an assist to her goal earlier in the quarter as the Bulldogs held a 10-0 lead.

In the second quarter each offense was much quieter. The Regals broke the Bulldogs' defense for the first time in nearly 20 minutes as they scored with 5:29 left in the half. Redlands, though, ended the period with the final two goals as Bradford would finish twice giving herself a hat trick and Morrissey added her second assist as it was a 12-1 halftime advantage for the Maroon and Grey.

The momentum carried over into the second half as Walker, Morrissey, and Bradford each scored to give the Bulldogs their largest lead of the game at 14, 15-1. The Regals scored three times in the final 8:23 and Walker scored for the fifth time as the Bulldogs took a commanding 16-4 lead into the final 15 minutes.

Redlands scored the first, fourth, and sixth goals of the fourth as each team finished three times. Beaver, Catie Ramicone (Countryside, IL), and Jacqueline Landucci (San Mateo, CA) all added goals to help Redlands to their largest margin of victory during SCIAC play this season.

Beaver finished with four goals and had an assist as she tied her career high for goals and set a new career high with five points. Walker's five goals are the second most of her first-year season and her six points ties her for two other games for the most in her career. Morrissey finished with four points on two goals and two assists, the two goals tied her career high. In goal Alyssa Ashley (Vista, CA) started and went the full 60 minutes as she made seven saves and the seven goals allowed are a career-low in a game she played more than 15 minutes.

As a team, the Bulldogs dominated, forcing six more saves thanks to 14 more shots, picked up seven more ground balls, successfully cleared 80 percent (8-for-10) of their opportunities, turned the ball over four fewer times, and won five more draw controls.

Redlands will end their season this Saturday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m. when they host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
