Bulldog Women's Lacrosse makes big strides in match-up with Pomona-Pitzer

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (3-7, 1-5) became only the second Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) team to hold Pomona-Pitzer under 20 goals this season despite their 19-4 loss at Farquhar Field on Monday night.

The Bulldogs conceded the first three goals on the evening, but they were able to get one back at the 10:05 mark of the first quarter as Emma Beaver (Bend, OR) scored on a free position opportunity. After a pair of Sagehen goals, Jenna Bradford (Anaheim, CA) also took advantage of a free position as she made it a three-goal deficit, 5-2.  

Redlands was held scoreless the remainder of the first quarter with their next goal coming with 3:27 left in the third as Bradford again scored on a free position attempt. The fourth and final Bulldog goal came with :55 seconds left in the game as Redlands continued to fight as Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) found the back of the net off a Jenny Quinonez Diaz (Menlo Park, CA) assist.

Bradford scored twice with one ground ball and four caused turnovers, Beaver and Walker each had a goal with one and three ground balls respectively. Defensively Tracy Lam (Southington, CT) collected three ground balls and caused a turnover and Quinonez-Diaz added another four groundballs. In goal Alyssa Ashley (Vista, CA) got the start and made 11 saves with two ground balls.  

Redlands showed some big improvement in the game from the last time they took on PP.  They won 11 draw controls with four coming in the first quarter and another four in the fourth.  They finished with 10 shots, eight of which were on goal, picked up 19 groundballs and was 3-for-6 on free-position goals.  

The Bulldogs return to the road next week when they travel to Claremont, CA for a match-up with Claremont-M-S on Wednesday, April 5 beginning at 7:00pm.
