LOS ANGELES – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (1-3, 0-3) fell behind early on the road at Occidental College Saturday and had to sit through a weather delay of an hour as they fell 23-9.

The Bulldogs conceded the first goal in the first minute and a half but held the Tigers scoreless for the next five minutes as they were tied at one following a Jacqueline Landucci (San Mateo, CA) goal that was set up by Mallory Morrissey (Coronado, CA).

Occidental would take momentum into the second quarter scoring eight of the nine goals with the lone Bulldog connection coming courtesy of Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) who scored at the 6:45 mark.

In the second period, Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA) got the Bulldogs on the board first with a goal off a Walker assist. Following the goal, Redlands was able to hold off the Tiger offense, not allowing a goal for almost nine minutes, but they would allow five unanswered down to the two-minute mark. A goal with :18 seconds to go before the half from Jenna Bradford (Anaheim, CA) gave the Bulldogs some life heading into the break.

The third quarter and beginning of the fourth was the most successful stretch for Redlands outscoring Occidental 5-4. Four different players scored, Webster, Natalie Schumann (Murrieta, CA), Morrissey, and Walker twice.

During that stretch the Bulldogs allowed only four goals across 19:45 dating back to the end of the first half as they got within nine, 18-9, with 12:37 to play.  Unfortunately the Bulldogs were unable to find the back of the net again as they lost 23-9.

Walker finished with a hat-trick and Webster added two goals as well. Emma Beaver (Bend, OR) had three ground balls and six draw controls. The Bulldogs started Alyssa Ashley (Vista, CA) in goal for the first time this season and she played the full 90:00 minutes making seven saves.

Redlands will take a break from SCIAC action as they head south east to Tennessee for a pair of non-conference games against host Sewanee on Tuesday, February 28 at 3:00 p.m. PST and then a neutral site game against Albion on Thursday, March 2 at 11:00 a.m. PST.
