REDLANDS, Calif. – On a cold rainy night at Farquhar Field Wednesday night, the University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (1-2, 0-2) dropped their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) home opener against Chapman University 19-5.

The Bulldogs got off to a good start, holding the Panthers scoreless until the 7:45 mark of the first. Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA) then converted on a free position goal with 4:16 remaining in the opening quarter.

Following three Panther connections, Jacqueline Landucci (San Mateo, CA) scored off a Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) assist to draw the Bulldogs within two, 4-2, at the 12:48 mark of the second.

Emma Beaver (Bend, OR) then scored at the 5:21 mark and then setup Webster's second goal with 1:27 left in the half as the Bulldogs kept themselves alive, trailing by only four goals, 8-4.

Despite the good momentum in the first half, the Bulldogs were held scoreless in the third quarter and did not find the back of the net until Webster netted herself a hat trick with only :45 seconds left in the game as they fell 19-5.

Webster finished with a team-high three goals. Jenna Bradford (Anaheim, CA), Beaver, and Walker all picked up an assist. Bradford, Walker, Natalie Schumann (Murrieta, CA), and Landucci all had three ground balls.

In goal Nicole Hutten (Hinsdale, IL) made her home debut finishing with three saves and three ground balls across 41 minutes.

The Bulldogs will stay in SCIAC play with a road trip to Los Angeles to face Occidental College this coming Saturday, February 25 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
