REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team matched up with the No. 25 ranked team in the country Wednesday night in the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens who came in undefeated at 10-0, 7-0 SCIAC. The Bulldogs fell behind by double digits across the first twenty minutes and just couldn't get anything going on offense as they fell 22-5.

Redlands moves to 4-8, 3-5 SCIAC and on the evening got off to a slow start not finding the back of the net until the 10:21 mark of the second quarter when Celine Flaig (Redondo Beach, CA) scored off a Sydney Louie (Lafayette, CA) assist, which pulled Redlands back within single digits.  Just over a minute and a half later the Bulldogs made it two in a row as Maeve Wiencek (Sherwood, OR) would connect coming off a free position attempt at the 8:41 mark.

After the two unanswered goals, the Sagehens re-established their double-digit lead at eleven (13-2). On the positive side the Bulldogs held Pomona-Pitzer scoreless for 3:55 after allowing three goals in the span of 2:55 at the beginning of the quarter. Flaig halted the Sagehens run with a goal with 3:59 remaining before the half as she took advantage of a free position opportunity moving the score to 13-3 at the break.

Three minutes into the second half the Sagehens added to their lead, coming 8:45 since their last goal as the Bulldogs had only allowed four goals over the previous 14:33, which was an improvement over their 10 goals allowed in the first 18:12.

Much like the second quarter, the Bulldogs went on a small run with two unanswered, both of which came from Flaig who got her total up to four on the evening. Those two tallies would be the final goals of the game for the Maroon and Grey as they would get held scoreless over the final 15:00 minutes allowing Pomona-Pitzer to come away with the road win.

Flaig had a big night finishing with four of the five Bulldog goals. The fifth goal came from Wiencek. Louie was the other goal contributor, while adding an assist. It was a tough task for goalkeeper Charlie Baum (Hesperia, CA) who faced 31 shots on the night, while totaling nine saves.

The Bulldogs now sit in fifth place within the conference standings, but they are only 0.5 a game behind fourth place Occidental who they are 1-1 against this season. The Bulldogs have four remaining games on the schedule with three of them occurring at Farquhar Field. The first of those games will be against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at next Wednesday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m.
